Free Extreme Fiction

This was a hell of a fun chapter to do, a decade or so ago. It came out in the days when I used to write in that empty apartment above the one Trudy and I shared. I didn't use my chicken scratch method to write this piece. (See "My Writing Process" for an explanation of that.) No, I actually played acey-duecy  with myself with a real deck, then improvised Jimmy and Susan's dialog as I dealt out the cards. It took, maybe, a week to first draft, then a couple of years to rewrite and redo along with the rest of the novel. Trudy caught me once up there playing cards, and she must've thought I was goofing off, playing solitaire, but I wasn't. I was writing. But I was also having the time of my life.
